TAM Ireland is managed by a Board of Directors, representing all of the member broadcasters and agencies. In addition, TAM Ireland has appointed a Technical Committee (TComm) composed of experts in the field of media research. All activities are co-ordinated by an independent Chairman.
The personnel listed here, and indeed others, bring a great wealth of experience, both directly related to the measurement of television viewing and wider general business knowledge.
Alan Cox
Alan is chief executive of Core Media, one of Ireland's largest media buying groups and is a director of TAM Ireland, representing the interests of the member advertising agencies.
Alan has over twenty five years experience in the advertising industry, including spells in production, full service account management and media. Among the agencies where Alan has worked were Bell Advertising, The Network (Ogilvy's new media company, where he also sat on the European board) and Carat Ireland.
Alan is a graduate of the College of Commerce and has served on many industry committees' including those dealing with radio listenership and outdoor research. In addition to his work in advertising, he spent a number of years working as a radio presenter in the "pirate" days on stations including Radio Nova and Capitol Radio.
Andy Barnes
In 1979, Andy took up a position at Southern Television as a sales trainee. Over the course of the next seven years he progressed to Deputy Sales Director of TVS.
In 1991 to joined Channel 4 as Head of Advertising Sales and was appointed to the board of Channel 4 as Sales Director in 1997. Andy also sits on the board of BARB and is a member of the Advertising Association’s Council in the UK. Andy is also Chairman of Thinkbox, the marketing body set up to act on behalf of the commercial television companies in the UK. He is also a director of TAM Ireland.
Daragh O'Halloran
Daragh serves on the TAM Ireland Technical Committee (TComm).
He is Research Manager for TV3 and 3e. Daragh has worked in virtually all areas of the advertising industry, having commenced his career at Media Audits (now Accenture) before moving to McCann Erickson as TV buyer and then subsequently to the position of Research and Marketing manager for UTV Sales in Dublin.
Dave Moore
Dave is Research Manager for TG4 and also has experience of managing the stations' schedule and library since joining the then TnaG in 1999.
Previously, he had been the group statistician for IMSG, incorporating Irish Marketing Surveys and Lansdowne Market Research. He has also worked for Nielsen as statistician in both the retail and TV audience measurement sections of their Irish operation.
Dave is a director of TAM Ireland and also serves on TComm.
Deirdre Stokes
Deirdre is Head of Sales Operations for TV3 Group, where she has worked since the launch of TV3 in 1998.
Deirdre began her advertising career in the advertising agency, Irish International, in the late 1980's before moving to Toronto, Canada where she worked in media for ten years. On her return to Ireland, she joined TV3 and was involved in the set up of the station and later the integration of a second channel, 3e, into the company. Deirdre also oversaw the set up of TV3's Sales House, Three Sales, which represents Living in Ireland.
Deirdre is a director of TAM Ireland and is also a member of the Electronics Communications Group in Ireland.
Gareth Ivory
Gareth is a director of TAM Ireland and also serves on TComm.
He has been Manager of the RTE Audience Research Unit since 2002. His remit covers not only television research but also radio, print and online media. Prior to joining RTE, Gareth worked as a freelance researcher/journalist for a number of years, after completing doctoral studies in Irish Politics.
Geraldine O'Leary
Geraldine O’Leary, a Psychology graduate from University College Cork, has worked in the advertising industry since graduation. Agencies she has worked with include: Brian Cronin and Associates, DDFH&B, Saatchi & Saatchi and Zenith Media.
Geraldine joined RTÉ in 1997 as Manager Television Sales and was promoted to Director Sales and Marketing in August 1999. In January 2003, she was appointed to her current role of Commercial Director RTÉ Television and is now a member of the TV IBD Board.
Geraldine is a Fellow of The Marketing Institute and TAM Ireland and is a regular Chairperson/Speaker at Industry Conferences and Seminars. She is also the current President of EGTA (European Group of Television Advertising).
Grace Berkery
Grace is a Director of TAM Ireland.
She is a Senior Research Officer and contributes to the management of the RTÉ's Audience Research Unit. With traditional media, digital media and cross-media expertise Grace provides insights on Irish media audiences that inform editorial decisions, business strategy and market positioning at RTÉ.
She graduated from Dublin City University with a BA in Communication Studies and prior to joining RTÉ in 2003, worked in sales operations and research in commercial radio in Scotland.
Grace is a director of TAM Ireland.
Hugh Johnson
Hugh is the Research Consultant on TV audience research for Channel 4 and is a member of the TAM Ireland Technical Committee.
Hugh has been working in, and with, Research and Insight at Channel 4 since 1991 and has been involved in TV audience research in the UK for what he describes as "rather a long time". Previous to Channel 4, he has worked for Sky and ITV.
He has also recently been involved in TV research projects for various European and Chinese media organisations.
John Patten
John is Managing Director of Medialink, the company which sells and manages all commercial airtime for Channel 4 and E4 in the Republic of Ireland. Medialink is the largest independently owned media representation business in Ireland and has built up the Channel 4 business since 1992.
John is also a director and shareholder in Digitize, a rapidly growing online advertising sales company. John is a director of TAM Ireland.
Mark Swift
Mark is the VP Commercial Director of Viacom Brand Solutions and as a director of TAM Ireland, represents channels including MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon.
Mark commenced his career as a TV buyer with BMP Advertising in London in 1985 and subsequently was appointed TV Buying Director and a director of the Board. He joined Channel 5 in 1996 and helped set up the sales team, prior to the launch of the channel. He subsequently was appointed Sales Director for Virgin Radio, moving thereafter to Soulspace Advertising as a director. In 2005, he joined Viacom Brand Solutions.
Nick Fletcher
Nick is the Broadcast Director in one of our member agencies, Publicis Media Ireland (part of Core Media).
Nick graduated from the London School of Economics and joined Leo Burnett Media in London where he worked for two years. He then moved to Dublin, spending two years with Young Euro RSCG before moving to Publicis Media almost ten years ago.
Nick is involved in TComm and is also a director of TAM Ireland.
Paul Hutchinson
Paul is Sales Director with Ireland’s oldest commercial TV channel, UTV. He has worked there since 1987. Paul is a past chairman of the Publicity Association of Northern Ireland and is a director of TAM Ireland.
Paul Loughrey
Paul is Research and Marketing Manager for RTE Television Sales and is also a director of TAM Ireland and serves on TComm.
Paul is an Economics graduate. He commenced his career in London with the BARB TV bureau and then moved to a number of research agencies in Dublin, including Irish Tam Ltd (who held the audience measurement contract in Ireland prior to the appointment of Nielsen) and Taylor Nelson MRBI.
Richard Kelly
Richard is Sales Director of Sky Media Ireland, the media sales arm of BSkyB in Ireland.
Richard joined Sky in 2000 and has held a number of positions across the UK and Ireland prior to his appointment as Sales Director in 2007. He is responsible for the sale of all advertising solutions across a portfolio of twelve channels including five wholly owned channels (Sky 1, Sky News, Sky Sports 1 & 2 and sky Sports News) as well as third party channels (MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, Nick Jnr., E! Entertainment and Discovery).
Richard is a director of TAM Ireland.
Stephen Murfet
Stephen has over eleven years experience in television research. This has been spent at UK based media owners including ITV regional sales, UKTV and is currently Media Research Controller at BSkyB.
He has worked on various large scale research projects at BSkyB including SkyView, the largest TV viewing panel of its kind in the world. Stephen has served on many committees’ which have covered various aspects of BARB in the UK. He is a member of the TAM Ireland Technical Committee.
Trevor Twamley
Trevor is head of sales at Setanta Sports, responsible for all aspects of Setanta's advertising and sponsorship sales.
Trevor has worked in the media sales industry for over ten years and joined Setanta from the Sunday Tribune where he held the position of supplements manager. Trevor is a director of TAM Ireland.
Aidan Dunne
Aidan is the independent Chairman of TAM Ireland and co-ordinates the activities of the Board and TComm.
While Aidan commenced his career in Cadbury’s, he then moved into advertising where he has spent the greater part of his career. He worked for McConnell’s Advertising, becoming Media Director and subsequently chairman of its separate media planning and buying agency. In the early part of the new century, he moved to the supplier side, becoming chief executive of the then new radio station, Newstalk.
In more recent times, Aidan has run his own consultancy business, becoming involved in a range of issues including assisting media companies to present cases for proposed mergers and acquisitions to the Competition Authority. Aidan is a director of TAM Ireland.
